There are 3 other pubs in or close to Lacock that are also very good:- The Carpenters which is in the village and the Bell and Rising Sun which are just outside. Lacock has been location for a number of highly regarded films over the years. In 2007 some Harry Potter scenes were filmed here and also Cranford (formerly the Cranford Chronicles). In 2008  some scenes for Wolfman were filmed in the village starring Anthony Hopkins. Close to the historic, National Trust village of Lacock are two relatively new (July 2006) self-catering holiday cottages, Chestnut and Maple. Situated within the grounds of the owners' converted barn, the cottages  enjoy a quiet rural setting, yet are in easy reach of the World Heritage City of Bath. Both cottages sleep four, are tastefully furnished and extremely well equipped. We are well situated as a touring centre being within easy reach of two other World Heritage sites, Stonehenge and Avebury. Longleat with its safari park is 40minutes by car. The Cotswolds are a short distance away and the surrounding countryside offers many stately homes and gardens. There are many pubs and restaurants close by and we are conveniently situated for shops. Oxford and Salisbury are an hours drive. There is a village shop in Lacock and a Sainsbury's Superstore two miles away. Guests can hire bikes to explore the surrounding countryside either on quiet country lanes or on cycle paths nearby and we are only a short distance from Sustrans National Route 4. We offer 3-night weekend and 4-night mid-week breaks at 70% or our weekly rate. Babysitting is available on request. Regretfully - no pets. WiFi available.
